TRAVESÍAS

TRAVESÍAS unfolds through a situated artistic practice attentive to the conditions of each environment. Rather than producing fixed objects, the work develops as an evolving process in which making becomes a way of thinking, listening, and inhabiting.

Working with fragile, soft, and often residual materials, the pieces remain open structures activated by air, time, sound, bodies, and the shifting relationship between enclosure and landscape. It is within this subtle threshold—where the real slips into the imaginary and imagination returns to the real—that what Juliana Herrero calls Sur[real]isation emerges: a tangible yet elusive mode of transformation.

Developed across landscapes and urban environments—from Patagonia to Central Europe—TRAVESÍAS evolves through displacement, repetition, adaptation, and return, gradually forming a cartography of lived experience. The works are placed, suspended, held, or supported, allowing gravity, movement, sound, and environmental conditions to become active collaborators.

Documentation—through image, sound, and text—does not merely record the work but extends it, functioning simultaneously as archive, memory, and autonomous artistic practice.

The works do not represent a place; they remain in transit. Between formation and dissolution, matter becomes landscape, memory becomes gesture, and presence emerges as something both fragile and enduring.
