Sinfonías dibujadas
Charcoal, black and gold graphite on paper
5/8
100cm x 70cm
On her series of charcoal, black and gold graphite drawings from the process of thinking her Sound Folies (Sinfonías dibujadas)Juliana Herrero translates in two dimensional cartographies her self recorded sounds of remote places and other recordings provided by friends, trying to trace distances and the spatial relations across the sound sources. The loss of parameters on the process of translation, bridging between the gaps of several time capsules, enhances a surreal spatial experience. The acoustic remembrance of some specific moments is “rendered” then in a more dimensions essayistic piece for projection: Chirpings for FUGA 21 (stop motion video) which evokes the fragile ecosystems and the concept of chamber music.
