Slide show with cross fading and sound – a film in slow motion / 80 frames x 2

Sound: composition made from recordings (sea and voices) on Canary Islands, Rundgang Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main

In the setup for the open format of Emotionale Passagenthe work is expanded as:

WAVESCAPE 72 Reloaded

2011; A film in slow motion with live intervention, LAI, Institute of America Latina in Vienna, Europa-Saal

2012; A film in slow motion, WUK Vienna

A dissonance: an acoustic colour in the voice. Solitude, alienation, innocence and irony intercept the state of the fragile, frame by frame. Subtle noises and images interlace in a non-linear narrative blurring the edges between fiction and reality. The work quotes parallel worlds, transposing elements of multimedia descent: figures, words and phrases extracted from Saint-Exupéry’s most famous novella, weather signals and tide reports of Gran Canaria, notes. A sort of transporting sense arises, a journey through an ocean escape of abstract paintings that embeds the collage imagery. The cross-fading creates the illusion of a film in slow motion, intensified by the sound as a mind-rhythm or a take-off to another world.
